CTA is a joint international institution of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States and the European Union (EU). Its mission is to advance food and nutritional security, increase prosperity and encourage sound natural resource management in ACP countries. It facilitates access to information and knowledge; supports evidence-based, multi-stakeholder development of agricultural policies and strategies; promotes inclusive value chain development and use of ICTs; and strengthens the capacities of agricultural and rural development institutions and communities.

BACKGROUND AND MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POST

CTA is recruiting a Web Content Manager to ensure that CTA’s communications objectives in English and French are best supported on CTA’s corporate website, thematic portals, and other web and email-based communication channels.
The position falls under the CTA’s Knowledge Management and Communication (KMC) Programme. The successful candidate will report directly to the Senior Programme Coordinator in charge of CTA’s online strategy. He/she will be working closely in a team with the Web Coordinator who manages the technical platforms and with the colleagues in charge of corporate communications and marketing. He/she will also interact with other CTA programme and administrative staff.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent will be responsible for:
  1. In collaboration with the groups mentioned above, identify major activities, events and communication objectives in the short and medium terms.
  2. Prepare, maintain and ensure implementation of master content calendars for CTA corporate website and thematic portals.
  3. Manage workflows for content in all formats (text, image and video) published on corporate website and thematic portals: assure information is made available in both languages (if needed), properly tagged, posted and archived; adapt workflows and processes to improve efficiency.
  4. Ensure quality control on content published on corporate website, thematic portals and associated channels (e.g. e-newsletters, social media pages); write, edit and proofread additional content as needed (e.g. headlines, short articles, summaries).
  5. Actively learn from site metrics and feedback, comments and suggestions from users; make recommendations on how the corporate website and thematic portals can improve user experience and engagement.
  6. Based on the content strategy, develop guidelines (editorial, look & feel) to ensure consistency in CTA’s online communication (corporate website, portals and associated websites, social media, e-newsletters, emailing); support and monitor implementation of guidelines.
  7. Assist the Web Coordinator with input to the basic development of new web sites.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Communication, IT or related field.
Work experience:
  • At least 5 years work experience within the field of digital content management with similar responsibilities.
  • Good mastery of popular content management systems (Joomla, Wordpress, Drupal).
  • Demonstrated capacity to understand corporate identity, values and codes and establish and implement editorial and graphic charters for the web corporate communication.
  • Experience in use of graphics and multimedia for the web.
  • Familiarity with web accessibility standards.
  • Understanding of copyright issues.
  • Experience with digital assets management tools would be an advantage.
Professional knowledge & skills:
  • Project management skills: planning, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of English or French and proven ability to work in the other language.
  • Highly organized and able to meet tight deadlines.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team: good inter-personal skills, respect for and appreciation of other perspectives and cultures, capacity to build consensus.
  • Creativity.
  • Knowledge of agricultural and rural development issues in developing countries would be an asset.


APPOINTMENT AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The Associate Programme Coordinator Web Content Management will be appointed by the Director of the CTA upon recommendation of the Selection Committee.
  • Duration of the contract: 12 months (renewal possible).
  • Gross annual income of € 57,188 mostly tax free.
